Please Rob Me

It takes all kinds. Right? People on both sides, apparently somehow bringing balance. The yin and the yang.

I smiled a little when I stumbled onto this site this evening, PleaseRobMe.com.

They provide a ‘service’ to heighten awareness of how letting others know your where-abouts can inadvertently send a message to those would-be-evil-doers who have been planning to rob your home, tracking your movements via FourSquare and Twitter.

They now want to off-load the service to someone else to take over their ‘good work’, who’ll take it to the next level…

We at Forthehack have been thinking about how we want to continue pleaserobme.com. It has received a lot of attention and it’s time for a next step. We want to offer this website to a professional foundation, agency or company that focuses on raising awareness, helping people understand and provide answers to online privacy related issues.

If you’re such a foundation, agency or company, contact us.

And they do provide a disclaimer at the bottom of their home page:

Our intention is not, and never has been, to have people burgled.

All I can say is interesting….
